Before I ever dreamed of this web site I was pushing this product. Why? Because it does exactly what it claims to do. It gets loose fur out and is absolutely relentless on mats. Get your pet used to this one and you won’t ever have to do a shave down to remove mats which is happy for everyone. We had this size (Large Cat – Purple) and used it on small cats and big dogs. We never had any other size and it always came through for us.
I took River in for a recheck at my hospital one night and an owner brought in an old diabetic cat with mats. This always makes us sad. I put River up and brought out the big guns to work on the old girl while the vet talked with her people about testing and home care. She just laid there and let us work. Such a good girl but so sick too!
I didn’t get a lot of time with her but at least I got out all the mats along her back, including a big monster mat that left her with a bald spot. Poor old girl.
Those nail clippings between the comb and the orange handled big-gun clippers? Those were growing into her paw pad. Can you imagine walking on that!! Poor, poor old girl… But thank you Furminator, for making the lives of so many pets more comfortable.
Pick your go-to tools and stick with them. Your pets will thank you, young and old. A little at a time is so much better than having to go through the pain of de-matting… You’ll feel better soon old girl!
Before you think I’m targeting neglectful pet owners, realize mats can happen to any-pet, especially those with Cooper Coyote fur! When he first came to us, Cooper would let me maul his face with the Furminator, but try touching his shoulders or anything lower? Out come the teeth and the hissing. It has taken us nearly a full year, but I now have access to his back and tail. Just the other day he let me get this thing out of his fluffy pants!
I mean, look at the size of this thing the Furminator got out in one quick swipe while King Cooper was distracted.
Don’t give up on the first try. When you don’t know what is going on, the Furminator can seem like a frightening tool, but it is amazing and deserves a few slow, steady chances to prove its worth. It will grow on you. It sure grew on Cooper!
